Question:

Are political parties unjust?

Why do we need political parties? Shouldn't people just vote on a candidate based on the issues and not political party? I believe that if someone's labeled "Republican" or "Democrat", there will be some people that will vote for him/her just because of that label and some that won't vote for him/her just because of that. For example, it seems like some Republicans just hate Obama because of his political party, not based on what he believes in. Without political parties in America, wouldn't people be elected more fairly?

  1. it's human nature to form groups. so no, it's not bad. we need to organize ourselves in order to elect those we want.

  2. Just waking up, are we?

Look into the term "approval voting".  Parties may be necessary in the current setup, but the Libertarians are the correct party.  This assuming that candidates are actually going to follow their platform.

I'm with you though - I'm all for abandoning our form of government in favor of democracy.  We have the technology to do so; we only lack the political education. Perhaps that's what all the unemployed politicians could do - explain what we're voting on.

  3. I agree.and if you take any of the candidate match quizzes, they all usually say, that 90% of americans are independant. but truthfully nobody usually knows which candidate has more in common with their own beliefs unless they watch research, and partake in the whole process for an extremely long time. Now they say a third party vote is wasted, but if we all took these quizzes. and voted for the perso closest to our own feelings there would never be only two parties dictating the way Americans should believe feel or live. It's a shame.

  4. you're assuming most people think for themselves.
