  1. Ships are boats that are suited for ocean going.

  2. yes

  3. Yes, The distinction between a ship and a boat varies depending on regional definitions, but as a general rule, a boat can fit onto a ship, but a ship cannot fit onto a boat. A ship, in other words, is a very large ocean-going vessel, while a boat tends to be much smaller. Additionally, a ship usually is defined as having a displacement larger than 500 tons. During the age of sailing, a craft with three or more rigged masts was considered to be a ship, but this definition has been superseded, as different methods of power generation are used on modern ships.

  4. Yes, ships are boats...

    Years ago...

a pleasure boat was a boat until it was 50 feet in length...

then it was called a yacht...

a commercial or military boat was a boat until it was 80 feet in length...

then it was called a ship.

But today... hey... I have heard Harbour Masters, Lock Masters, Bridge operators, and even the Coast Guard hail 30' cabin cruisers as yachts and even ships...

But yes! They are all boats... even submarines are boats... until they sink... then they are gifts to Davy Jones' locker.
