  1. Yes, they can be genetic.

  2. Stretch marks are not genetic.  You have just expanded quicker than your skin could cope with.  Baby oil will not be terribly beneficial - vitamin E oil is said to help get rid of scars so should help stretch marks.  I have also seen advertisements for bio-oil which claim to do the same thing.

  3. Hi Charlotte,

Typically, women complain of stretch marks mostly on the abdomen, b*****s and buttocks. It takes about a year or more for the "fresh" red marks to fade to white/silvery streaks. Many experts agree that there is a genetic tendency toward stretch marks (if a parent or sibling has them, you probably will, too), and age could be a factor, as well , you may be more likely to develop stretch marks in your teens, 20s and 30s, when your skin is more elastic. Rapid cellular turnover during the growth years and pregnancy causes the collagen and elastin producing cells to become overburdened, resulting in faulty production of collagen and elastin. In your 40s and beyond, your skin is generally looser on your body, which means you're less likely to develop the marks.

Good luck and keep usind the baby oil.

  4. Are any other scars genetic? It's just stretching the skin too fast.

You don't seem to know much about baby oil. It's petroleum oil that puts a plastic layer on the skin to stop moisture escaping. It's made from waste products from oil production. It sits on top of the skin and doesn't sink in. That's why it's used for massage, as it keeps the hands moving.

It's good for baby's bottoms as it stops urine from going onto the skin.

If you want to nourish your skin you should use natural oils as they sink in. Natural oils like plant or nut oils. Even bio-oil is better than baby oil. Or Palmer's.
