Are the british really like this?

Question

i'm going to take a trip to britain soon but i am kind of worried about if people won't like me

i'm from western US and want to know if the people there will be nice or not

iv'e heard that a lot of the americans are considered loud but i'm not like that

will guys not like me because i'm american and what do you guys think about our accent?

just be kind, nice and polite and i don't think you will have any problems. American girls are great ;-)

my girlfriend is American, and i find her accent adorable.

i think most guys will find it intriguing, and will like it ... just like i fell for my girlfriends accent when i first met her

youv'e no problem in the uk. but yes you hit the nail on the head , some americans can be a little bit loud , and this does not go down well here in the uk. just enjoy yourself and stay cool

You have nothing to fear coming to the UK.  The British are not the awful, arrogant people often portrayed in the media - far from it!   Most Brits are fairly decent and friendly people.

Americans can be loud but there again I challenge anyone to come to my country and visit a nightclub or football game and then you will see that the British are not the reserved people you may think!!

As for being American that's a bit plus.  Most British men I speak to are fascinated by American women (although a lot don't like to admit it!!).

American girls ooze style and class.  Is anyone telling me that the gorgeous girls portrayed in the movies and on US TV don't exert an influence in the minds of the UK male?  Of course they do!

Of all the people from the US I have spoken to who have visited the UK not a single person has not been warmly welcomed.

if you are courteous and considerate and not loud and demanding you will be liked and accepted.

your accent will be familiar due to the success and popularity of american films and tv shows.

The accent can be annoying, but it can be cute.

It ties in with the loudness really - there is a stereotype here of Americans being loud and obnoxious (not that I'm endorsing that stereotype!) but if you're not like that, you should have no problem at all.

h**l, lots of Brits are far more loud and annoying.

So yeah. Soft accent is cute, and my limited knowledge of the US tells me that Western USA - California, Oregon etc. have cool accents! :)

One thing American people tell me is this - they can never tell if I'm being sarcastic or not. Watch out for that - we don't tend to alter our tones as much when we're being sarcastic, I think. :p
