  1. Yes, many of the subspecies are endangered. Overall the species is not.

  2. I found two sites for you.

  3. Seems that North American Grey wolves are not, they are doing quite well in the NW.  The red wolf is still endangered I believe.

    Goof

  4. some are still endangered in parts of the world

  5. No They were taken off the endangered list several years ago

  6. Some species are endangered i.e. the Ethiopian (the most endangered), Red, Himalayan, and Indian

Some subspecies of the Gray Wolf are endangered.  The Arabian, Mexican, Caspian Sea, Italian, and Vancouver Island Wolves.

And in some *places* animals of "least concern" are actually endangered.  For example the Gray Wolf is considered endangered in most of the northernmost of the lower 48 United States, but throughout the world is considered stable.

  7. this sure is........ Gray Wolf Canis lupus.......... there's even a case were one was rescued and when they returned it to the wild ..... it got shot..... shame...

  8. Some places they are, some they aren't.   Someone shot a wolf in Maine a few years ago and he was going to be thrown in jail for it, but officially there aren't any wolves in maine, so he couldn't be in trouble for shooting something that isn't here.

  9. Think they are still listed as so, but there population has really made a come back. I know in some western states they are allowed to shoot them again with permission from that state.

  10. nope

  11. There are lots of different wolf species..exactly which are you asking about.  The Red Wolf is critically endangered, and the Maned Wolf is nearly threatened.  Also some species have a different status that varies from state to state, there are not just federal listings.
