Are there Air Traffic Control Simulators?

Are there any ATC simulators for student pilots. I'm looking for interactive software that basically simulates ATC and I as a pilot can practice my call outs to enter a pattern, get clearances, etc.

There is a good online community called Vatsim which allows ATC and pilots using [I believe] FS2004 to interact online using realistic radars for ATC and procedures for both. The ATC side is done with a piece of radar software which can be downloaded from the internet, then loaded with a section of real-world airspace. Pilots using FS2004 who choose to fly in that airspace can then be controlled by a real person with real procedures etc..

I used this one with a couple of students. It's not amazing, just ok, but I had much better success with simulating communications with them during ground sessions.

Also, one of the towers in my area offered something called "pattern drill" where they call out increasingly complicated random instructions and the student has to repeat, understand, and obey them. I never heard it at any other airports though, so maybe only some of them do it and it would only be available workload permitting.

The bottom line is that you have to get out there and do it for real. There is no substitute for the real thing.

microsoft FS get that ( FS9 or FSX)  then join Vatsim you can fly with them and become a virtual atcer

flight sim x is a brilliant way to practice-you can either muck around or join a serious online server-hope this helps:)
