  1. It depends, Most of the large Class 1 freight railroads have onboard cameras to provide information during a collision say at a grade crossing, or with a human, so that the railroad knows that the crews were doing their jobs correctly. Most of Union Pacifics Fleet has on board cameras.

    If you mean on passenger trains, then I dont think so.


  2. THE UNIVERSAL TREND IN ALL TRANSPORTATION MEANS IS TO INCREASE THE SAFETY FACTORS THROUGH PROVIDING HIDDEN CAMS IN PLANES AND TRAINS. THE NEWS CAMS HAVE BEEN ADDED TO MOST OF THESE MEANS .

  3. no so far as I know, as stated there are cameras facing forward on a lot of road locomotives but these are not surveillance cameras to watch the passengers.

    I have heard some subways and city metro lines are installing to to cut down on crime but Amtrak has no plans at this point that I have seen.
