Are there any real restaurants left?

I wanted to take my wife someplace nice for dinner, so I went through the phone book in search of a nice restaurant. The only criteria in my search was "Are ties and jackets required?" There were no business in my area that required them. Do such places still exist and if so where?

We have several upscale places near the capital, here in Sacramento, that have dress codes for gentlemen.  Newer places to see and be seen, not old time places.  So, while they may have fallen out of fashion, I think they may be coming back.

Fine dining is quickly becoming a thing of the past.  The upcoming generation doesn't have as much interest in presentation as they want their gratification now now now.

Sorry.  Find a nice bistro and enjoy it while you can.
