Question:

Are these cat treats any good?

I bought these for my cat about a year ago--he absolutely loves them! There's a store in town that sells them, I just don't get there very often, so I haven't gotten him any more. I was thinking for his birthday, maybe, or Christmas. Anyway, that's a ways off, and not my question.

Here's a link:

The ingredients are listed there, are those okay? I've gotten *decent* at recognizing bad ingredients for dogs, but not so much for cats.

Is the treat okay? If not, what do you recommend?

  1. If your cat likes them, as long as they are used as treats (no more than once a day) they should be fine.  If you are using it as it was meant (breath freshener) then there is a better, more natural way - parsley.  Chop up 1/4 teaspoon of fresh parsley and add it to the cat's food (dry or wet) - you can use this for doggy breath too (1/2-1 teaspoon depending on dog size)!! My cats like Temptations Dentabites, it helps maintain their dental health.

Next time you visit your vet, get his/her advise as well.  Good Luck with you kitty!

  2. Well I have 2 pets myself.

I have one dog and a cat. I actually use that brand for my pets. I started to give it to my cat and he loved it.

I gave it to my dog too and he liked it even more.

There are no ingredients that could really harm a dog either. They can both eat it.  He had no injusries, rash, or swelling. My dog is a lab too.

I KNOW it will be fine. Good Luck!!

  3. Try these by Blue Buffalo.  The ingredients are much better for your cat.

  4. Cats and dogs are pretty similar - you can use your knowledge of one for the other.  There are some differences of course - like don't assume that because garlic is ok for dogs (if it is) that it is for cats (which it isn't.)  But ballpark.

These treats aren't too bad.  I'm not crazy about the rosemary, and of course since they're liver you would not want to give too many in any one day due to the vitamin a content.

But they're much healthier than what you find in the grocery store!
