There might also be a few very advanced species out there who eradicate other life forms to prevent them from developing into a threat.

You could say that "demanding" others create a mental picture of a  universe filled with "advanced life"  just to make us feel less lonely is quite arrogant in and of itself, no?

No, we aren't arrogant. Especially me. Someone said that "universe is expanding". Hubble I think. With the increase in the length of universe, new more planets will be discovered which contain life. Even now UFO is the most common paranormal topic. They exist according to the people who have seen because seeing is believing.

Yes, we are that arrogant, and it may be that we are alone -  and then again there may be others out there. We do have some justification for feeling good about what we have learned.

I think people who choose to believe that we are the ONLY life form in the universe has got to be CRAZY!  To me, its almost SCARY to think that we are the ONLY or the most intelligent life forms b/c look at what we are doing to not only each other but our planet!  If we are the smartest there is... well thats just too scary of a thought for me!  I keep hoping that maybe some greater, smarter beings will swoop down on thier white horses (aka spaceships) and "FIX" us and our planet! LOL  Who knows... could happen, right!?! :)

Either arrogant or just deluded. The media would have helped that. I mean, think about it this way:

So alien movies ae made, but everyone says, "those movies were not real." As more alien movies are made, people see the aliens in them and see more and more fake aliens to the point where because there are no counter examples just yet, alien becomes synonymous with fake. The result? People are brought up to believe that aliens can never exist.

The truth? Well, why can't aliens exist? The universe is VAST, so vast that if you try to get your mind around the concept of just how big it is, chances are you will only make it to alpha centauri before you give yourself a migraine. In all that space, how could there be one planet with life? In fact, if there are going to be so few planets with life, it would make more sense for there to be none at all. Point is, there have to be aliens somewhere!

And as a side note that I like to include in this kind of area, one day chances are that we will journey to a planet with life on it and find a more primitive species, and then we can be their aliens! How awesome would that be?! I would totally come out of our ship and run around making faces. Or not. But the point is, we have an equal chance of them coming as us going.

In my opinion human beings as a whole are arrogant on many levels.  We somehow have the idea that every thing on planet earth is here for our use, abuse, and depletion.  The human race is extremely egocentric.  I think there is a very good chance that there is life elsewhere in the universe, but I hope it's intelligent enough to steer clean of us humans!  If it doesn't, no doubt we will find a way to exploit it for our own gains.

We are not alone. Who know, advanced life forms from that planet could have sent spacecraft her and it is just now getting here and possibly scientists are studying them especially if they are human like and many, many generations lived and died and was born in space. Just a wild guess.
