I have a virus on my laptop. It is a Vista. Let me tell you how I think I got it. I was downloading a patch for my game The Sims 2. All of a sudden command prompt came up and said something about tracking. When I click the internet, it tells me that I am browsing unsafely. Then 5 minutes later a big blue screen tells me that Windows has shut down to protect me and for me to reload in safe mode and disable cache and shadowing. I am on another computer right now because everytime I reboot (not on safe mode) it runs for about 5 minutes and the blue screen comes up again. WHen I run on safe mode, it stays up but I have limited internet connection so I can't do this. I have put Super antispyware, malware bytes, spybot search and destroy, combo fixer, and mg tools (as reccommended by a highly qualifed website) on a cd so that I can put the cd and run it on my laptop. My question is will these programs run on safe mode? My laptop is dead and I am at school and my charger's at home. I just what to make sure that I can before I leave a working internet zone without everything I need

  1. I'm sorry to tell this but you should understand what happened to your pc.You can't get back all your files because you're computer is already infected.Anti virus software only have ability to block that kind of viruses and if virus already infect  they can remove it only.It doesnt mean that anti virus software can repair your infected files. I'm highly suggest you to use kaspersky upgraded version or Norton antivirus. Antivirus database should be newest one. The best thing is first remove that virus using good antivirus software and format your hard driver and install your OS back. I'm Highly suggest this because such kind of viruses steal your passwords and usernames so there is risk about getting hacked ,More about viruses read this http://www.tutorial-net.blogspot.com/200... , This may helpful to you conclude your problem

  2. Dang lol..you're infected bad..here's a video to solve your problem I think.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oITxnPGSH...

  3. It's not unfixable, it's a tough one though. The tools you listed (most if not all) will not run in safe mode. I would agree with the guy who sent the youtube video. It does sound like a device driver reload. This is not simply a spyware, malware issue. It is difficult for me to help without getting way more info. A tool you should get that will run in safemode is Hijackthis and install AVG free edition do a full scan in safe mode. I need your log file and I will analyze it, you need to message me through answers and I will send you my personal email address and then you can send this log file as an attachment.

Edit: OK avg migh not complete befor the BSOD, give us an update on the stop address listed in the blue screen. Install hijackthis and send the log file this creates. It's only 3 weeks old you could just reinstall windows. might be faster.

  4. ah yes that famous virus. personally one of my favorites.. this virus as far as i know is unfixable i havent had it but i know someone who has. i had done a full check up on it online and im almost positive its unfixable there is nothing reallly you can do, you could try contacting a professional but i think they'll say the same thing sorry about your dilema its not vista though just becareful on what patch you download for games it can be dangerous

  5. Yes that CD will work fine in safe mode those are the programs I would recommend using to.
