  1. I downloaded in Windows, but since I'm a Mac user, I won't be testing it very much until the Mac beta comes out.

The primary thing Google brings to the table with this browser is the way it loads and manages your memory usage.

When you have websites open, the javacript, images, and HTML all have to load smoothly, otherwise we encounter problems, slow loading, and your whole browser can crash.

Chrome has split up these processes into individual items. So if there's a problem with the javascript, the page will skip that part and continue loading the images and content.

Modern computers run the same way. If one program crashes, the rest of your computer still functions. Chrome is a browser that functions the same way.

With other web browsers, if a page is having a problem, it can take down the whole program.

In addition, Chrome handles tabs separately too. If one tab crashes, the people will basically close down, but the rest of your open pages remain open and un-harmed.

Another advantage Chrome has is security. Nobody knows the internet like Google. Because of this, they have the power to block dangerous or malicious websites faster than anyone else. This helps protect users from websites that pose a risk.

Chrome also provides a cleaner, more organized approach to the browsing experience. They borrow very heavily from Firefox and Opera, almost shamelessly, but I guess every new browser is a recycled version from another browser anyway.

When I tested Chrome, it did a pretty good job and was reasonably fast. There are many features missing, but I know they are working on improving it.

Overall I'm excited, and potentially see it being my default browser in a couple of years. We'll see.

I definitely recommend downloading the beta if you're a Windows user.

  2. Er yes I am but not right now, can't give up FF and all them lovely add ons.

I find the ''tricks' on Google Chrome interesting - drag tab into current window to 'force' another window, also the incognito window is a useful addition as is the built in task manager - though I did find it inferior to FF for streaming media, probably because there is no about:config to tweak up connections etc.

  3. I feel the single redeeming feature is that it creates seperate processes per tab/app. So, for example if 1 of 3 tabs crashes, you can close that tab instead of the whole program locking up. Also, if a malicious program or script tries to run in a tab then closing that tab closes all processes attributed to it - so the nasty stuff goes away too!

Other than that it's a nasty, over-simplified piece of software designed for those who don't know what they're doing.

  4. its fast, is simple, its straight forwrd like this answer

  6. Yes I tried it for a day. Found it was a total load of c**p and couldn't get it off fast enough!
