Aristotle and galileo?

i need a few questions answered so i can understand it.

1. explain Aristotle's view of natural motion. you can put it in a nutshell if you want.

2. Explain Galileo's view of natural motion

3. Explain how Galileo's view contradicts Aristotle's view on motion.

I am doing physics at the moment in high school and I don't really "get it"...

  1. Aristotle's account of natural motion (in a nutshell)

    Up and down are fixed by the position of the body in question relative to the center of the universe, a point coincident with the center of the Earth. That is, the theory holds that heavy bodies naturally move towards the center, while light bodies naturally move away.

    Galileo (on the other hand) All objects that are released from the same starting point reach the ground in the same time. His theory unifies the concept of force and mass.  Objects have an opposing force to motion - a force that retards the motion.
