Art & painting & drawing.. ALL ART?

im beginning to get into art & i'm only 14 and dont know much about art besides the painters and theyre paintings. i know about art history and stuff but not about how to create my own art. i want to know a good way to start. i am not a skilled 'drawer' or painter but when i try i can create something cool so i wanted to get better at it becaus ei have so many ideas but of course i need to learn about the proper materials, techniques, types of art, paints, clay, pencils, markers, etc. i really want to get serious about drawing because its something that makes me feel free & it would feel even better if i could create art that also looks good. what should i do? what are some good techniques... how did anyone else learn? btw this upcoming school year is my first year of highschool and i signed up for art & i plan on taking it every year of high school.. thank you =)

The best way to learn technique is to take classes.  ^_^  Then practice, practice, practice.  And never be afraid to try something new.  I'd say you're on the right track.
