Question:

As a photographer...?

Is it illegal to take a picture of someone else's artwork and publish it w/o their permission? I WOULD NOT claim the artwork as my own or take any credit for the originality of it. I'd gladly put the title of the work, the location and/or the artists' name.

  1. You DO have to ask an artist permission before you can put a photo of their artwork and publish it.

  2. The legality of it depends mostly where you are located. The biggest thing to look out for is using someone elses image in your projects and making money off of it. Then you get into issues of royalties and thats where you can get into trouble. My suggestion would be check with a lawyer that is familiar with where you live and ask them. I hope this helped.

  3. Yes, that is illegal, and if the photographer found out they could come after you in legal terms.

    Thanks for reading!

  4. you can not do that
