Asked to leave the company...?

I have been working with ABC Company for 10 years as a production line staff. Recently, the company has automated the process in my production line so that they do not need production line staff anymore. As a result, I have been asked to leave ABC Company.

Should I be recognised for my past service to ABC Company? If yes, propose what could be given to me. And under what circumstances would ABC Company be obliged to recognise me for my services to the company?

  1. It depends on where you live, if you in any way union affiliated, if you are in a "right to work" state or not... but hopefully they will offer you a severence package, which may be based on your tenure with the company, for example, a reasonable offer may be to pay you all of your accrued vacation time, a 2 week notice or more, and perhaps 1 week pay for each year served. Most likely you don't have any rights, other than to unemployment, if they need to lay you off.
