Asking parents for a puppy?

Ok well ever since I was born I always had dogs around me. 4 when I was a baby (all died of old age) and 1 that I had gotten as a pup when I was about 7 (died of cancer at age 12 (about 3yrs ago)). I've waited for so long I miss having a dog I have a cat and 2 rats, but that just isn't the same as a dog. I get good grades, do my homework, take care of the other pets, basically the only thing I need to do is clean my room lol. Me and mom were at petsmart the other day and got me a rat to accompany my other ONE at the time, so she talked to dad and said "so what do you think we got from petsmart?" he narrowed it down to a rat or a puppy, and I said "I WISH IT WAS A PUPPY!" and mom said well Idk If there were any puppies there, Hellen, but next time we go we will look... SO does this mean I could be getting one, or should I ask and convince? I'm so confused! HELP PLEASE!

P.S. I asked about a 2yrs ago for one and my parents said yes that they would get me one, but STILL no puppy! I think they lied when I tell them they said yes they say that they DIDN'T say yes! Idk what to do...

  1. You can create a petiton and write down the pros about getting a new dog. Promise your parents that you mostly will take care of it and keep that promise (for a while anyways!) But if you keep asking, they may get annoyed, so hint them about it. Like for example, you could say, "I sure miss that pup of ours we had a couple years ago!" Hopefully it'll work, good luckk! :D

  2. PetSmart has shelter adoptions every Saturday. Make sure you dont buy from the petshop. Dont buy from a breeder who wont show you where the puppy lives or wont show you the parents. Dont buy from a breeder who just wants to breed a few times for fun. Dont buy from a breeder who does more than 3 breeds. If they do, they are not responsabliy breeding them. Visit www.stoppuppymills.com  One in every 5 shelter dog are pure-bred. So if you want a purebreed, look there.

  3. don't keep bugging them about it. just wait until ya'll go back. when you see a puppy that you like, then start the begging.

lol hope this helps and good luck!!!

  4. i had this problem... but im getting a dog. to show them your willing to work for the puppy you need to be responsible.

  5. well ive been wanting a puppy ALL my life and i just got one. i have bad luck with dogs cause all of the puppies i get die. i just got a new pup named ella and just make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. they chew, pee, p**p, whine, and scratch. mine is doin better but she is still crazy! just be sure your parents know how responsible you are. rite now my moms takin dogs for a walk cause i just got up.
