Were there any great assassins of great fame during the middle ages era? or is that just a dramatized Hollywood thing?

  1. There was an Islamic secret society in the middle ages called the Assassins, which you can find some information on here: http://www.sacred-texts.com/sro/sma/inde...

Kings Henry III and Henry IV of France were both assassinated, as well.  You might want to look into regicide in general for information on assassins, as murders of state are the most famous assassinations you're likely to find information on in that time period.

  2. In France there is one, called Ravaillac who killed Henry IV. We learn about him at school. That's not Middle Age but Renaissance but still.

Apart from that no, murderers or assassins were not famed. There was only as mentioned above the sect of the Assassyns from which the word assassin came. A religious branch of Islam which became (in)famous for its dedicated killers.
