Question:

Audio availability from LCD TV?

As I understand that a LCD TV has its own speaker.

If I plug the audio output from LCD TV to A/V receiver (amplifier) then how can I get the sound from LCD's speaker.

If I switch off the A/V receiver then can I get the sound from my LCD's speaker. Is there any way I can control the sound through remote?

As I understand the best way to get the sound from LCD's TV is to unplug the audio output from LCD TV. But I don't want to do that as my LCD TV is wall mounted and I don't think that it will be a good practice to do that.

Please suggest.

My LCD TV is Sony W series. and my A/V receiver (HTIB) is Onkyo HT-S800.

We entertain through DVD player and Dish TV.

  1. Yes, most TVs have internal speakers.  What you can do is connect the audio from the DVD and the Dish receiver to the HTIB and use the TV as simply a monitor.  The HTIB does all the switching between sources.  That's what I do at home.

Another option would be to run the audio from the DVD and the Dish receiver to the TV and then the output of the TV to the HTIB.  Then you would switch inputs on the TV to change sources.

I really haven't heard the one about unplugging the TV's output, though . . .

    I hope this helps.

  2. Hi,

I am assuming that your LCD TV,s speakers are internally connected.

Usually the LCD TV sound is independent of the audio output from the LCD TV. The sound level from your TV can be adjusted with the Volume +/- button on the remote control.

The sound output from the LCD TV ,whether it analogue or digital(coaxial cable or optical cable) needs to be connected to your a/v receiver which has its own volume control to play through the amplifier and speakers.

    Hope this help.
