  1. It must be - it's owned by the Queensland Government.

Aviation Australia Pty Ltd is a private company incorporated under the Corporations Act. The total of its issued shares are held by the Minister for Education, Training and the Arts, and the Minister for State Development, Employment and Industrial Relations, in trust, on behalf of the State of Queensland.

It holds approvals to conduct basic aircraft maintenance engineering which lead to aircraft maintenance engineer licensing or equivalent with The European Aviation Safety Agency, The Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department and The Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority, so its qualifications are recognised by government bodies.

Pre-Trade courses currently conducted by Aviation Australia are approved for Austudy. All other courses are not approved for Austudy.

  2. Yes it is, my man has just done a course in Cairns (graduates next month) for Avionics.   It's the same courses through Aviation Australia at Eagle Farm.

Government paid for the lot (20 grand course)   although some courses they pay 95% of it, so you may need to pay $3-4,000.

You can claim a student wage while taking a course also.
