Well, I would say Aurora if you would actually call her that, but if Rory is a nickname, then I like Avalon better because I think Ava is a cute nickname.

Aurora. Because ever since the Gilmore Girls, I've always loved the nickname Rory for a girl yet I've never met anyone with that name. I also like Ava though so it was a hard decision. :D

I like Aurora better; it has a smoother flow to the name and I like the nickname Rory. Both are cute, I just prefer Aurora (it's on my name list, too).

I love Avalon! (I'm a little prejudiced though, since it is my name) It is very unique, and I think it sounds creative and Independant.

Aurora has a wonderful meaning and looks pretty when written down, but it is awkward to say out loud (try it!).

PS. I also think Avelyn/Avalynn is a really pretty name :)

Ava is a prettier nickname than Rory.

And Aurora is just tricky to say... it doesn't have the same flow as Avalon.

Aurora: Avalon is kind of pretty because it makes me think of a part of Catalina Island off the coast of California called Avalon that I've been to, but I LOVE the name Aurora and especially love "Rory" more than the nick name Ava.

We are narrowing down girl names and both of those made it into our top 25!  We are now down to 16 and Aurora is still on our list, but we have taken Avalon off.  They are both beautiful and rare names (Avalon is not in the top 1000, Aurora is) but the bottom line is that on a resume someday Aurora most likely would be taken more seriously than Avalon.  If all else is equal, why wouldn't you want your daughter to have the most opportunities possible?  I know everyone compares Avalon to the car or says it reminds them of Avon.  Funny, the shredder behind me is Aurora brand.  And my son is Hunter, which is the brand of our ceiling fan.  It is funny how I find names I like, then notice these brands later.  Just proves they are all great names!

I have always lover Aurora, but I don't care for Rory so much, it reminds me of a lion :). I don't care for avalon, nut I'm starting to like it, but I LOVE Ava
