  1. AVG has been known to cripple systems, it can use lots of resources. If you want a free antivirus, use avast.

  2. AVG was ok up to V7.5, but V8 has lost the way!

Avast anti-virus better definitions, anti-spyware and anti-rootkit built in, faster and more reliable:

  3. AVG is not very good. You can try BitDefender Free Edition, it automatically updates every hour.

  4. I have a friend who is a registered microsoft partner and he uses it is great!! used it for 4 years not a problem yet. i use v8.

  5. AVG made my life a living h**l for a while.  I work in Web Analytics, and their link scanners have wreaked havoc on my websites for too long.  They will scan every link on a webpage, sending fake traffic to my websites.  I cannot tell 'real' traffic from their scanning traffic.

From your side, it will slow your web surfing, since it will scan your links before you visit them.

    I wouldn't recommend AVG.

  6. AVG short for Anti Virus Guard - also called crapware or bloatware, it does NOT guard, is well known for missing viruses, it well known for not being able to remove some viruses, AVG 8 is a hog of a program (it will slow your PC like Norton). Would I use AVG - NO.

You would be better off using Free Avira or free Avast.

For anyone using AVG, please test it with this free Test & your stop using AVG:

  7. I have had AVG for a long time now, since I got fed up with Norton. It is pretty decent for a free program, although not as good as some others. But it is definitely better than not having any anti virus program.

  8. I have always found AVG to be very good and use much less resources than the likes of Symantec. I have used it for a few years as have many friends and family friends and no issues with their PC.

Whichever you decide to use, remember to take off your old one if you have one on currently, you will really slow things down with two installed.
