Avi to dvd?

Question

uploaded video from sony camcorder with pinacle studio 9. its saved as an AVI file we then used divex to dvd converter and wrote this to a dvd. We have sound but no picture can anyone help.

I've got pinnacle studio 9. Why not create your DVD using that programme directly? Instead of using a secondary convertor. A company called ImToo make convertors for just about anything to anything try them

AVI isn't a video format, it's a file format. The AVI file you created with Pinnacle Studio will contain video in DV format, not DivX.  As another poster has suggested, why not carry on using Studio to edit the video and then create a DVD?

Many AVI files have embedded audio tracks that standard Windows cannot read. You need to add whats called a CODEC to decode the audio. The best and easiest way is to download DIVX (free from their website) which will add many useful codecs to your computer and help play many files that are in this format. Try installing the free DIVX player, that should solve your sound problem with the stock Sony avi file.
