Where can I find statistics of the dwvelopment in the air transport industry since World War Two? and general information how the industry has changed?

Google MAC which stands for Military Airlift Command. That should get you started. Also check out different aircraft companies.

Start here: http://www.iata.org/about/history.htm It is the history of the International Air Transportation Association, starting in 1945. It should give you a good overview and some ideas for pertinent keyword searches on the internet.
