    The pH scale is an a logarithmic scale. This means that with each interval change in pH, there is a 10 fold difference in the acidity level. so in this example:

    a solution with a pH of 2 is 10 times more acidic than that of a solution with a pH of 3

    a solution with a pH of 3 is 10 time more acidic than that of a solution with a pH of 4

    therefore a solution with a pH of 2 is 100 times more acidic that that of a solution with a pH of 4.

    (10*10=100)


  2. the correct answer is e because each level you go up in pH scale, the hydrogen concentration is 10 times less. Therefore pH of 2 has 100 times more hydrogen ions than in the solution of pH of 4.

    it cannot be (a) because pH doesn't work that way if 2 is half of four therefore it must have half as much
