wat are the main functions of BIOS in an IBM-compatible PC

  1. allows you to change boot options such as boot from cd or hard drive also allows for overclocking on custom pc's. It can also be used for maintenance stuff as well but if you don't know what your doing don't mess this it.  


  2. What BIOS means is

    B = Basic. Means what it says the Foundation of what computer needs

    I  = Input    Contains the info to run what is needed

    O = Output. Sends input info to CPU to start

    S = System. Is the setup to operate input and output

    This is the Information stored in a separate part of motherboard that contains the information about what is needed for your computer to start up and function.

    Sometimes this gets corrupted and can be altered to default settings so you can reset to what CPU speed and memory you have
