BOAT EXPERTS please?

Question

Boat sank at the dock after a hose was accidently cut, She was cought while water was half way up engines. The engines did get water in them. Both were flushed and pickled, one was started and ran fine.

going off that description would the boat be wrecked im new to the whole boat scene the boat in question is a 30' caver , i was wondering would the hull be serverly damaged and what would other things i would need to check out about it too ensure it is still ok.

Worry about your stringers! They not only support your deck but also the integrity of the hull. If they happen to warp or rot you are facing big problems.

Get your insurance company to send someone out to look at this ASAP if they haven't already.

And this is exactly the reason that anyone who boats should have a bag of various sized plugs aboard! Much grief and aggrivation could have been lessened had the cut hose been plugged immediately.

Was the rest of the boat cleaned.  was this in salt water.  There should be no damage to the hull what so ever.  If you caught it before any water caused any damage to the engines.  I would make sure none got into the fuel tank.  The rest would be interior problems or damage.  Make sure all electrical systems are dry and any electric motors are working, IE fans, blowers, etc. Check battery fluid level if you have that type of battery.  You got the main part.  I don't know the drive system you have but if its an out-drive, it should all be sealed.  Inboard, you may want to check fluid levels and for water.

The hull should be fine. After all it is a boat and is meant to live in the water(whoops! On the water)

What about the second motor? Should be the same as the first. Otherwise a rebuild or replacement

Big factor is did it go down in fresh or salt water. Fresh cuts the damage.

Also electric systems and affected electronics should be carefully checked out. Anything electric might be unreliable unless thoroughly checked, possibly replaced if necessary

She should be alright the water will not hurt the inside hull which they will be settlement and deposits left from mud and sand that floats along the water but no worries you should be fine just take care of the engines the worst case is the electrical system Good luck

30' Carver?

Has the other engine been started and ran? Under load?

I wouldn't sweat the hull, it should be fine. How long did it sit with water in there? Thinking about elec. system, rotting floorboards, and general problems from an overabundance of water.

Are they offering a warranty? If you are buying, please CYA!
