I am looking for an air condition for my server room. Its a small room about 9x12 with 8' ceilings. We have 6 servers a phone system and a large printer/copier running about non stop. It gets about 81 degrees on a cool day with the central AC at 72. How many BTUs should I be looking for in an air conditioner ?

  1. With the quantity of computer and office equipment you list, this will most likely be the controlling factor.  You need to provide the power dissipation (or at least the power requirements (in watts or BTU/hour)) for all electronic equipment.  Server loads could be anthing from a standard load (200-300 watts) up to several thousand watts.

Heat dissipation from your electrical equipment can be converted from kilowatts to BTU/hour by multiplying by 3,415 BTUH/KW.  You will need this information to provide a reasonable estimate.
