Question:

Babies bitting and head banging?

My ten and a half month old is bitting me alot right now. Any advice while he goes through this teething phase. I pull him away and say no firmly but he seems to think that is a bit of a game. It's hard not to react at all b/c it friggin HURTS. He has many teeth now.

Also he bangs his head on stuff on purpose. I know he isn't autistic or anything like that and have read alot of kids do it. My pediatrician said today he is just experimenting but mostly trying to get my attention...any thoughts on why or what to do? My doc said to totally ignore that behavior unless he is really hurting himself.

  1. with the biting you tell him how much it hurts,if that doesnt work [it just sounds bad] you bite him back not hard just a nibble he will quit when he feels it.the headbanging is just a phase he will get bored and stop on his own

  2. When you let your child know that it hurts make sure you look at him/her straight in the eyes so  baby will get it that you really mean that it HURTS. and no do not ignore him other wise he'll get a big bruise and that is your job to keep him away from hitting himself that is why  taking care of a baby is a hard job you gotto make sure they don't get hurt.

  3. You pretty much anwsered your own question. My 19 month old was doing the same thing and we did like you, told him firmly that it hurt and to be nice.Just takes a little for em to catch on and see they shouldn't do that.Just ignore the headbanging thing.

  4. the biting thing , your right it does hurt . my son wuit the biting after he got his teeth in .  i would give him a raw carrot to chew on or an ice-pop . he's just starting the head banging thing so i have been questioning that myself. good luck
