Baby BIRD!?!?

Question

I found a bird that can't fly and lured it into a box, it's like a baby-kid bird, cause it flaps its' wings but cant fly. What should i do???

call a vet, until then feed it worms and seed find out what kind it is and make sure it has everything it needs

If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly.   You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it.  If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest.  Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched.  If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival.  Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own.  Look for a rehab here:

You should have left it where you found it. I know this sounds unkind, but nature has a way of working things out. Yes it is survival of the fitest, and many people don't like to admit that no matter how hard we try, we cannot save every bird, squirrel, raccoon, etc., no matter how much we want to.  If you handled it, then the parents will not go near it because of your scent.  There really isn't much you can do at this point.

Your taking the baby bird over-ruled the possibility of the mother and father taking care of it themselves, feeding, and even sometimes carrying it back to the nest.

When baby birds first leave the nest, it takes a couple of days before they can fly.  The parent birds stay close by and continue to feed the young ones until they can fly well enough to be on their own.  If the parents are still around, I would put the baby bird back outside to see if the Mom and Dad will resume caring for it.  If they don't, try to find a bird rehab group to properly care for it.

maybe try to keep it for a few days... you need to try to feed it, if its too young maybe you should take it to a vet, feeding a baby bird is kind of hard because you'll need to find a syringe (without the needle) a really tiny one and stick it far down its mouth almost to its belly to get it past the gag reflex... if you don't get it down far enough you could "drown" the little thing :( or try to mush food up like a little bit of bread with warm water make sure its not sticky cause it will stick to his/her throat.

you should maybe keep it outside depending on weather, and if the bird can walk or not... if it can't walk then you should keep it inside until it was stronger... keep it warm

if the baby bird is really tiny and doesn't have its mommy it'll be hard for it to survive... i know i'm jumping all over the place... but if its warm where you live i would put it in your backyard in a safe place... where you know cats or raccoons or any other animal will be able to harm it

you should not have touched it

the moment you did you alienated it from its parents ,who could have come back to save it .

if it takes food you can try to raise it .

start digging for worms ,and see if it takes bread soaked in milk.

or bugs that are half chewed.

as a kid i have raised a few fledglings ,it is possible .

If it wont take food its gonna die ,so don't be surprised.
