I went to the bank today to cash in a check that was sent to me by somebody, which the check has around 4 thousand dollars. and when I went to the teller to have the check cashed, the teller told me that they could not take the check and cash it, and this was at a local SunTrust Bank because the check said suntrust on the front of the check.

Is there a problem why the bank can't cash the check?

  1. My guess would be that there is a limit on how much the bank will cash checks for.

However I still wonder, if that's the reason. My husband had a similar problem with a check  for $50.00 at a Bank of America.

He was told that he wanted it cashed, that he was required to give a thumb print, and long with a lot of other personal information!

He walked out  with the check in hand, and went to a different bank.

The other bank didn't have a problem cashing it. he did even have an account there!
