hi, is the tv in barcelona in catalan or spanish or both

As the poster before says you can receive programmes in both languages.  A lot of programmes are dubbed and you also get the home grown soaps - which are somewhat amusing nearly as bad as the english ones.  Also some of the programmes will be in a mixture of both languages which can take a bit to get used to.

However if you have a newer TV or digital you can get programmes in what is called VO (their original language) which means you also get programmes in english, german, french, japanese etc!!

In Barcelona some channels are in Spanish and some others are in Catalan. TV1, TV5 and TV6 are always in Spanish, TV3 is always in Catalan and... sometimes TV2 and channel 33 are in Spanish and sometimes in Catalan.

There are Spanish channels and Catalan chanels.

Local news is in Catalan.on most channels.

TV1, TV 2 and TV5 (telecinco) are in Spanish; Barcelona TV is a local Catalan station but the main Catalan station is TV3. TV3 is probably better than the TVE programmes.

There are also numerous local channels in Catalan.

Spanish Television is just as bad as British television but in the Barcelona area, Catalan widens the programme choice and I think it is probably better than British TV.

There is no licence fee to pay and Barcelona viewers have more channels than in London.

In catalan, there are other channels in spanish, but Barcelona TV is in catalan.
