The midfielder has finally completed his switch to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 and took to Twitter to express his delight.
Joey Barton’s protracted yet controversial stay in the Premier League has finally come to a close, with the attacker landing a loan deal with Ligue 1 giants Marseille.
While he was QPR’s captain last season, he failed to make any contributions on the field and was infamous for his brawls and off-the-pitch controversies which have threatened to derail his career.
The final nail in his coffin appeared to be penultimate clash against Manchester City, in which he earned red for starting a brawl with several Sky Blue players.
QPR decided that they had enough and tried to send him on loan to Fleetwood Town, so that he could complete his F.A ban earlier than expected. However, that the move did not go through and the Stade Vélodrome emerged as his next destination.
In the last couple of days, the transfer has been on and off, but it has finally been completed this time around and the player was relishing the prospect of lining up alongside the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Valbuena-c24690 and Loic Remy.
"I am now a player for L'OM. What a birthday present! Cannot wait to get going. #allezL'OM," tweeted Barton, who turns 30 on Sunday. Would like to thank (agent) Willie Mckay, (Marseille sporting director) Jose Anigo and (chairman) Vincent Lebrune aka Mr
President for making it happen. #allezmarseille.”
"I would also like to thank (QPR owner) @tonyfernandes and (chief executive) @Amit_Bhatia99 for making this possible. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Good-Luck-c39444 to everyone at QPR for this season. I am happy to be playing for such a massive European club like Marseille. Bonne nuit xx,”
said the one-time http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 International.
While his talents have been recognized, his antics have curtailed his career, which is filled with a list of incidents that would put even Football’s hard men such as Duncan Ferguson to shame.
Nonetheless, it’s a fresh start for Barton and a chance to finally show his footballing sides to the world. But if his history is anything to come by, expect a lot of French tabloid pages to be directed at one of the Premier League’s most infamous exports.
