ive been playing basketball my whole life. i didnt really start to get into it until 7th grade. In 8th grade there were 2 teams: A [better team] and B [not so good team]. i got put on the B team. after that my confidence went down. all my friends were playing AAU and im playing club bball. I tried out for freshman bball in highschool and didnt make the team. so i played club bball again. im practicing with the JV team and im hoping to make JV in my sophomore year of high school. i really want to become a better player. i want to play bball all through the rest of high school and i want to play AAU. i just dont feel like im good enough. i dont have anyone in my life that tells me to keep pushing. i dont really know what to do.

  1. I have a friend that was in the same situation. U c I was the opposite. I made the A teams. I played AAU. My friend played on the B teams. He was arrested the next year and spent half the year in a correctional facility, and then when he came back the next year he wasn't even aloud to try out cus they were scared he would get in trouble again. But in that time when he wasn't on the team, he worked his a$$ off. He lifted waits and played basketball everyday. last year when he tried out he blew the coaches socks off, and started during the season... ON VARSITY!!! while I played JV....

U and him r the same (except for the jail part lol). All u need 2 do is keep practicing hard and not give up. I will provide some info that can

help u get better ONLY IF U PUT IN THE TIME AND STRENGTH.

Go to camps. There should still be some in August. Find some 3-3 tournaments too.

Find ways to practice/ play w/ people of the basketball team. Playing against them should improve your skills and confidence.

Contact the JV coach and ask him if there r any summer activites or excersizes that u could participate in. Hopefully he can provide u w/ oppertunities for him to evaluate u. Kiss A$$ if u have to.

U should run/jog 3x a week. Summer's the best time to run/jog cus it's always beutiful out. I recommend u run/jog 2 miles. After jogging, eat some meat (make a ham sandwich or eggs)  and drink plenty of fluids. Meat has protein in it and will help build muscle... and eating protein right after u workout helps build muscle fast.

U should practise basketball 2 hours a day.

1st hour u work on ur ball handling. Dribble w/ ur off hand and do drills such as figure 8s, rythem, the machine gun, around the waist, and the corkscrew. Don't look at the ball when u practise ur ball handeling.

2nd hour practise your shot, the first 15 minutes just stand in front of the basket and work on your form. Move around and try to stay below 3 point range. The rest of the time, stay on the go (running) and shoot shots u would usually shoot in a game situation. Hustle after rebounds.

If u have a friend or family member that can rebound and pass to u, that would be even better. And please... don't shoot shots u would never shoot in a game.

If u start now u should be well ready for the season. and if u don't make the team, DON'T GIVE UP. Keep working hard to next season.

    I have faith in u.

    Good Luck!!

  2. Do you have a little court somewhere by your house where you can play?

I don't have people pushing me except my coach but he pushes hard on everyone. I go everyday and play by MYSELF to improve myself so i can become a good player. My motivation is playing basketball professionally because thats what i like to do and want to do. So my advice to you is keep playing and just think about how good you gonna be in a couple of years.

  3. The same thing happened to me. I just used that as a motivation to make me better i started practicing every day and getting better. They didn't put me on the team and didnt think i could do it and i did and u can do the same

  4. get a personal trainer for a long time, until you get really athletic so u can own everybody over there. maybe go to a camp or something to work on your game, when you have athletisicm and talent, its a beautiful thing

  5. You Need more experience go to the YMCA and play with the boys. Run full court games with the guys that will make you so much better. The Only way to get better is to practice your fundementalss then go find a pick up game and put into effect what you practiced. If you can afford it go to Camps-Shooting Camps Defensie camps. We all struggle with our confidence once in a while but the best thing to do is keep your head up and KEEP AT IT! PERSISTENCE IS THE SPICE OF LIFE
