Bath tub clog!!! Can you help?

Question

My tub got clogged...none of my kids seem to know how or won't tell me...so I bought drano - at first it helped make the water go down slowly, but now water won't go down at all, and when i run the br sink, the water comes up into the tub.

Please help. thanks.

go to home depot and get a cheap 1/4 snake. the one that hand cranks will probably do the trick.  now where to snake it.  it is extremely hard to get through the tub trap with a snake. but since water backs up into the tub when you run the sink the clog is father down the line past where the sink ties into the drain line.  you should be able to snake from the sink trap and it will be a lot easier.  as far as the leak goes it my disappear when the pressure is realeased but the draino might have ate through the washer on your tub waste check at your access panel behind your tub for the leak.

Buy 4' of stranded #10 or 12 copper wire, strip about 6" of insulation the bend the strands back over the insulation to form a cone.  Push the wire down the drain, twist it and pull it out. Do this several times and wear rubber gloves. You will find lots of hair in the trap.

honestly i know its kinda ghetto lol but to unclog my sink i just took a knife and stuck it in the hole and kept pulling it in and out and it just unclogged, i used like 2 bottles of drano and it didnt work at all. and for the bath tub most of the time its just from all the hair so i did the same for that too and it worked.

sounds as if you have a clog and a leak. access to the clog is probably easier from under sink than through overflow at tub, and most likely need to cable (snake) in order to clear. as for the leak thier usually repaired by opening the cieling downstairs. if you feel handy tackle them both with any local hardware store, if you don't feel so handy call a plumber.

Buy a snake or plunge the c**p out of the pipes I had the same problem I kept plunging away and all type of hair and just nasty stuff sarted coming out the pipe

Never use Drano! It will eat at your pipes and cause larger damages in the future. You need to wait a while and call a plumber or get yourself a snake, and snake the drain. You probably have a clog in the bath tub u bend  that's why when you run the sink it backs up into the bathtub. You must be careful when snaking the drain because Drano has weakened your pipes and u run the risk of busting through them. It's the only way to get rid of the clog! I use bleach, because it's usually hair that clogs up the bathtub and the bleach eats away at the hair and unclogs the pipes. Best of luck!

The best thing to do is call a plumber and have them snake the line.  I come from a family of 8 and we used to do it about once every 2-3 years.
