Batteries for an electric vehicle?

what's the best one, and where can i purchase it? i'd love whatever links to battery sites i can get, google is making me mad.

contact the companies that do conversions. they should be able to help you. if you are thinking of lithium battery technology, be warned, its expensive.

The present batteries are so heavy that it is not practical.

If this is a custom build, I would go with dual-purpose deep cycle marine batteries connected either in parallel or series depending on the motor you are using.  Do not mix battery brands or different amp hour/output ratings. Optima are the best, but also the most expensive.

There are no batteries specifically for creating your own DIY electric vehicle...which is probably why you are coming up short on google.

Lithium Ion is very expensive, and impractical.
