  1. you need to get the lid unless you want your beardie getting out. you should have 5 different bulbs. heating, basking, daytime light, night light and a night time heat lamp.

  2. you should not be keeping bearded dragons in a tank, it is too hard to maintain the heat gradient. They are desert reptiles and need a cabinet. Cover 3 sides of the tank in something like styrafoam at least.

Basking lamps should not be too strong as the reptile can burn itself, I would be putting in at least 2 on a thermostat to maintain the ambient temperature.

  3. Don't get a 75.  Trust me....I have my beardie in a 55 and it's harder than heck to get hot enough.  It's just too tall.

I've got two 150W bulbs and desert strip lamp and an UTH if that gives you any clue on what you will need to heat that aquarium.

The optimum size aquarium for one of those guys is a 40 breeder.  They are wide and shallow.  Easy to get hot enough with minimal lights.

  4. Let me tell you this, I have a bearded dragon, and he is in a 75 gallon tank. i have two heating pads under it, one on each side, theres about an inch in the middle that isn't covered by one, and that's where i put his water bowl I have about a 75 watt light that's on the corner of the tank. And his tank is warm enough for him. I don't have any type of thermometer or anything in his cage, I've had him for over a year, and he's never had a problem, and I only have two lights for him. A daytime and nighttime. I have a basking light, but I never use it because he doesn't like it.

so you can get your 75 gallon tank and lights. okay

  5. I'm gonna guess you'll need something higher, but the best bet is to get a thermometer and monitor the temps.  The basking area should be around 100 degrees Fahrenheit.  When my beardie was a baby, I had a 20 gallon long and used a 75 watt.  I'm now using a 55 gallon and need 2 lights (50 watts each).  Also make sure you have plenty of branches for him/her to climb up near the light to stay warm.
