Hi everyone! I'm sure this is an overasked question but i'll take as much information as I can get! So here are the circumstances: I'm 13 turning 14 year old girl in Toronto looking to have a more serious acting career. I have an agent but that's all. I'd like to know what I can do to 'WOW' the directors in an audition room. What attitude do I need to have during the process and what do most directors look for? Should i be taking acting classes? Any information and advice you could give to me i'm sure would help! Thanks so much!

  1. When you first enter the room, you will want to make sure you act like you want to be there, not like you are being forced there. Show your smile and act friendly. Then when you are doing the actual audition, put in a much effort as possible.

It will give you more experience and practice if you do take a couple of acting courses. People can't force you to take them, but they are a good way to try out new things and talk to people with similar interests.

    Good luck!!

  2. the important thing is confidence. you need to be humble though. i might audition for a show but ive done speech meets(good kind) and i go to schools and preforrm for judges. good luck!

  3. Be bubbly and yourself :D

e-mail me at ready.setdontgo@yahoo.ca and can you tell me the agency?

  4. for you, i defintalyyy reccomend siging up for www.youcanact.piczo.com. they have lyk evrything that you just asked for theyll send you, its really helpful

  5. Yes, absolutely you should be taking acting lessons. Most of the teen actors you see on TV and in the movies have MANY years of training and experience, in addition to connections in the entertainment industry. Besides just teaching you acting, they can also teach you audition techniques, how to approach each situation, what is expected of you (what you need to know), and if your agent is doing their job. The good acting schools have connections in the industry and can help get you jobs.

Directors want you to be polite, listen, pay attention and be professional. Same with casting directors. They can make you or break you. If you, or your parent, is obnoxious, good bye career! While you may hear about those awful "stage moms" the fact is most of those of famous kid actors and their moms didn't turn obnoxious (at least in front of casting directors, etc) until AFTER they made it. Time is money, especially on a tv or movie set. So they want to know that any actor they hire will get the job done as efficiently as possible.

    Good luck!

  6. Im an actress and model, of course im nothing big, yet.

However when your at an audition they always ask you questions.

think about what you are going to say

and definitely practice your lines in the mirror and if they don't have a smile on their face when you do audition it is because they don't want to give anything away.

so they will probably ask you

why do you want to be an actress?

what are your goals? ... etc it varies

but don't be quiet and if you don't get it, DON'T WORRY

it honestly took me about  5 months to book an audition.

sometimes it mine take you 100 tries. it's rejection.

but i have however been in many commercials so my tip for you is do what the director says...NEVER give them attitude [only if your supposed to in the script]

and it's okay to be nervous , im ALWAYS nervous and just stay calm and NEVER EVER tell them you just want to do it to be famous.

they will show you the door.

    GOOD LUCK

hopefully me and you are on the red carpet one day!

  7. Take the longest route possible when you are doing the interview.  Maybe bring a bag and set it down somewhere to take up a couple of extra seconds.  They see hundreds of people every day and every second helps.

Yeah, acting classes would never hurt if you took them and would get you a little more comfortable.

  8. 1.) Be confident, go in the audition room knowing your going to make this.

2.) SMILE(: directors love to see a big hollywood smile

3.) know your material, practice makes perfect and you want to nail the audition and make the directors want to hire you right there.

4.) show off your personality, when they ask you a question give them an answer that stands out from everyone else.

5.) it's okay to get nervous, but don't let your nerves get the best of you, be comfortable.

Good Luck (: and also yes you should take classes, it's more experience and good for you.

  9. You should certainly take acting classes; I suggest Second City, Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People, and DragonTrails Drama; they're all good acting schools which I've been to.  Hope to see you at one of them, I'm the same age.

And directors are not usually at first auditions, usually it is the casting director and casting assistant.  And the attitude you need to please them is being upbeat and confident, do not be shy!

  10. They'll look for someone with a lot of experience, so even though you have an agent, keep auditioning for school plays and community theatre and taking classes. At the auditions, you need to present yourself as professional and friendly. Also, make sure you know your monologue(s) very well, because that's how they initially judge your acting ability. Take acting classes to help you improve on cold readings.

  11. Be loose and relaxed, Show them your not taking No for an answer! But remember to maintain a calm state of mind, and be set on your goal!

  12. definitely take acting classes they are a MUST. when casting directors are auditioning people, they are looking for someone with experience who they can rely on to deliver.  if you dont have any classes or experience under your belt then you probably wont be their first choice.

to have a successful audition, definitely come prepared to answer questions and recite the monolouge. but most importantly, be yourself and wear your smile!!
