Before selling an iPod...?

Question

I'm planning to try and sell my 80gb iPod Video soon (this is not an ad!) and I know I can delete my music/videos and change the settings back to the default settings, but is there anything else I need to do to make sure that if I sell it, there won't be any retrievable personal info? Maybe this is a stupid question, but please no rude or joke answers! I need to put this up for sale soon so please give me real answers only. Thanks :)

Your best bet would be to just restore your ipod. Its in the main menu when you plug your ipod in. Doing this returns your ipod to the same settings and what not when you bought it. So the software is the same. They can't get any personal information to you if you sold the ipod as is anyways...

You can sell it with music or without music. They will not be able to retrieve any personal info. You can restore it to be safer.

Unless you have stored personal information on the iPod in the form of text files with your details or anything like that, no personal information can be traced, as the iPod only stores information sent to it by the user, and once deleted will not be able to be viewed again unless it is loaded onto the player again.

All you need to do to ensure you are perfectly safe with it is to format the player (if it has a format option, I'm not sure if it does as I do not have an iPod) and then restore the default settings, if it does not have a 'format' option then simply delete all the folders and files in the player.

Nope, all you need to do is restore it.

I assume you know how to do that.

(If Not)

Plug your computer in.

Open iTunes if it doesn't open on its own.

click on the little iPod on the left hand side

click the restore button

Your all set after that.

Everything is gone and your set to sell. :D
