  1. give it a try.  If you dont' like it don't go back.  no hard feelings.  I think it's good to learn on acoustic because the strings are thicker and it will build your arm and finger strength up better.  It's good to learn on electric to learn how to solo.

  2. if you can play one, you can likely play the other just as well.

I've been taking lessons (on an electric guitar) for two years and I've never even picked up an acoustic. my teacher teaches me with an acoustic and I use my electric (although sometimes he brings an electric too)

but really it's not big deal :D

    have fun!

  3. It depends what you're wanting to play later on, on the guitar if you are looking to play lead guitar the you can learn electric, but if you are looking to play classical or any other type you should probably be playing on an acoustic or classical guitar..and if your fingers hurt playing on a steel string guitar you can always change to a nylon string for a while and then change back to a steel string guitar! =) Hope that answers your question! =)

  4. it doesnt matter what guitar you have  but i would sugest acustic so you hear the notes that way you could get use to the sound of each individual note, practice on moving your fingers specially the weaker ones like ur pinkie with scales,..

  5. Electric is fine. But practice without the distortion on so you can hear your mistakes.
