This is a three part question. So I'm going to learn how to play Acoustic guitar in a couple of days. I'm buying an FG700S. I'm also getting a case, picks, some teach yourself guitar books, but not a tuner.

1. Is a Yamaha FG700S a good guitar?

2. Do I have to get a tuner if I can tune other instruments?

3. ANything else I need ot get? Do I have to get a stand?

Thanks!

  1. The Yamaha FG is a good guitar. The rest depends on you since the guitar will sound only as good as you are.

    A guitar tuner is handy if you don't want to voer-stretch the strings.

    As for the guitar stand, I would invest in a good case and put it away after you finish playing. It's a better investment thatn a guitar stand.

  2. OK the things to look for in a quality guitar are;

    1. solid top or soundboard (most important)

    2. Rosewood finger board and bridge

    This Yamaha has all these so I'ld say yes, not a bad little starter guitar. I recommend a digital tuner as well, (5 to 25 usd) and a variety of picks. Also get a couple sets of strings if you have the $ handy.

    They have and assortment of things too that you may want. I recommend either a wall hanger or guitar stand to keep the guitar handy to grab, it makes it less hassle, therefore easier and more likely for you to practice. I keep mine next to my favorite chair.
