Ben Gurion security!?!?!?

For travelers into Tel Aviv, have you been detained in Ben Gurion? Just wondering what stupid questions they asked you that DID NOT relate to your trip..... its insane.... makes me not want to go back. I understand the need for heightened security, but really, why does the guard need to see that I took pictures, and ask me to produce a travel guide??? INSANE!

You think that's crazy take a look at the news.  Dozer on rampage.  They have to be careful.  Villians don't dress or look the part.

i don't think its insane, i think its great that Israels security is one one of  the best in the world,unfortunately israel needs good security more then other countries, thats reality.

in every country one has to go through a security check, trust me the security in the u.s.a. for foreigners is more scary.

they also screen out potential illegal foreign workers.

just be yourself answer honestly and everything will be fine.

They always ask me weird questions too...they think that I'm Israeli actually leaving on my Canadian passport or something.  It's not personal, it's why Israel is deemed to have the best security systems in the world.  

Even though we don't 'get' their questions, take solace that they are highly trained and are making sure that the country is the safest it can be.  I hope it doesn't deter you from going back.

Take a deep breath and relax, the security at Ben Gurion is there to protect you. They are really good at their job. That is good.  Better you should feel safe and annoyed than feel pampered and and frightened.
