what are the benefits from govt side, health wise and future security of a person.

  1. As a permanent resident, a person has access to Medicare and some other government benefits but there are qualifying periods for most benefits e.g. 2 years as a PR for Centrelink (unemployment etc.) and 10 years for age and disability pensions.

    PRs have no restrictions on the length of time they can stay in Australia or on the time they can work for an employer.

    Permanent residents can still be deported if they commit a serious offence and are found to be undesirable.



    You must be a PR and satisfy length of residence requirements before you can apply for Australian citizenship.


  2. Pretty much you will have all of the benefits of an Austalian citixen ,ie Medicare ,Buy a house ,get a mortgage, but I am not sure of how secure it is ,as an Australian citizen you will never be deported as a permanent resident I am not so sure.
