I was gonna get a new bike from target for $60 but I heard to not get that

My purpose. mostly street/road/sidewalk riding. I would use to ride to school, go to store, go to the gym and MAYBE work later on. Maybe do those 100mile coastal bicycle runs in the future. I would ride on sidewalks as Im scared of the actual roads. lol. No heavy dirt riding but maybe a ocasion dirt riding here and there. My old bike kept gettin flat tires and of the dirt/sidewalk i used to ride on. I want a fast bike but again im a college student so im a VERY tight budget. i went to a bike shop and i tried a trek7000? it was nice, but i want to recommendations.suggestions?

  1. You should check out www.bikesdirect.com

They currently have one that fits your $300 range:

The bike components are relatively top notch for their price due to their ability to receive factory direct pricing, and the company is highly reliable in shipping+customer service. The made-in-Taiwan Motobecane frame is generally regarded to be high quality, due to Taiwan's experience in bike manufacturing (e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giant_Manuf...

  2. i say get a hybrid bike, made for comfort, road, and some off roading, thats wut im getting tomorrow ;] not sure what kind of hybrid, just i know i want a hybrid bike

    check out this link:

the last 2 might suite your needs. but u only said no heavy dirt riding but only once in a while, and thats the same exact thing i want as well, and after doing research, I've discovered hybrids, i would say just go to a store, try out some hybrids, and see how it feels, see if what it features meets your standards and needs, im sure it will ;]
