My sister are her family just moved to Denver, and I am going there to visit this weekend. She lives in Littleton.

Where is the best place to go for Margarita's, or drinks?

(Some place chill, with not a ton of crazy people out screaming, partying, etc..)

  1. The Rio has good ritas. It can be pretty crowded at times (at least downtown is) don't know about Littleton. Be careful though they are POTENT- esp for people not used to the altitude.

Also believe it or not but On the border has respectabel ritas.

    3 margaritas is also good.

    Have fun.

  2. The Rio is certainly a staple, and yes, they will give you a nice punch. The food, however, at the Rio Grande is not so rockin'. Not to mention the lines, the meat-markety atmosphere. The Rio in Boulder is my favorite - its large and not such a cluster to get into as the one in Denver.

In LoDo, forego the lines at Rio and try out Lime, on Larimer, near 14th. Food is marginally better and the 'ritas are quite tasty.

For Cap Hill, I recommend Benny's. They have surprisingly great margs, are cheap, and have a fun atmosphere with very friendly staff.

In Highlands, try out Julia Blackbird (of this list, they are the BEST food - though its not strictly Mexican food).

In the suburbs, Tequila's in Golden cannot be beat (great food, incredible staff, fun flavors like Blackberry and Kiwi margs, great tequila selection) - it'll surprise you considering its a chain. In Littleton, try Hacienda Colorado - its nothing earth shattering in the marg department, but they are not bad, the food is decent, and the prices are right.

Also, a quick note for when you are in a super casual mood, QDoba and Chipotle serve margaritas, too. Not all locations have licenses to do so, but if you have a hankering, go for it.

  3. Mezcal on Colfax in Denver serves the best Margaritas in Denver, period.  However;  you don't want to drink and drive, because they pack a wallop.

I love Bennys, but their Margs are pretty average.  The Rio is the standard in Colorado, but honestly, while grain alcohol and apple juice added to Cuervo Gold makes for a heck of a good time, I'm betting the party's a little too raucus for you.

Theres a place in Old Town Littleton, It's about two blocks North of the Black Opal, which is a white table cloth restaurant on Main St (Littleton is huge, but Old town is very small).  THe place is located in an old house, and mannned entirely by the owner's family.  The food is great, and so are the Margaritas.  The staff is so friendly, and there's a comfortable, relaxed vibe that promotes good conversation.
