Best diet for hypothyroid??

ive been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, along with very high antibodies... after 9 long months before being diagnosed, i put on almost 60lbs...... now my endocrinologist has started me on 50 mgs of levo thyroxine, im really pleased about finally getting the right treatment, but would really like to shift this weight, is there a good way for people with hypothyroidism to diet? 3 large meals of 5 small meals? im also a vegetarian...

  1. I would suggest the 5 small meals. It will keep you full throughout the day so you don't have the urge to snack. Trust me though, the mere fact that you have started treatment will make a huge difference in your weight loss. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 3 years ago after a struggle to lose weight for several years (I was only 13 at the time, but I was 5'1" and weighed around 150 pounds). Several weeks after I started taking the medication, I noticed a difference. Now I am 5'6" and 115 pounds, and I'm actually trying to gain a couple of pounds :P
