Question:

Best meds for cramps?

I'm having really bad cramps right now, and I don't want to go out and get some over the counter stuff for them. Midol and Pamprin do nothing for me. So which one seems to work better, Advil, Tylenol, Aleve, something like that? Any suggestions for anything else?

  1. For me Tylenol works best. Advil is good too.

  2. tylenols awesome. works for everything!

  3. I think Advils better than Tylenol or Aleve. I use the the liquigels and they're awesome.

  4. I swear by ibuprofen/Advil/Motrin, and on the rare occasion that it doesn't do the job completely, I wear a Thermacare heat patch for menstrual cramps or at home use a heating pad.

  5. I used to cry in a fetal position till I could fall asleep, it hurt so bad.

it could be the pain reliever you use thins your blood a little (aspirin absolutely does, don't take it for menstrual pain!)

cramps come from the uterus muscles contracting to push out the unused blood.

    heat helps!

I then learned to sit in a hot bath. one so hot I'd hang my legs and arms out of the tub because they hurt. now I use a heating pad that heats in the microwave, in a pinch I once used a pot of just brewed coffee.

also these are the same muscles used in "contractions" when your going to give birth, and doing those breathing exercises to relax those muscles can also give great relief.

  6. Tylenol extra strenght

  7. Ibuprofen works best for me.
