  1. I used Travlers Cheques both times I went to Africa from the U.S.If your using a debit card you must know what the currency conversion rate is. I used mine in France but the Euro is worth more than the Dollar. So if you bought  cigarettes there for 5 Euros your paying more for them than in the U.S.Cigarettes at that price would be 7.50 USD.

  2. Personally I use a credit card to pay for purchases, meals etc, and a debit card to get money from ATM machines. You'll usually pay a fixed sum for each ATM withdrawal you do from abroad. Some machines will even tell you how much.

If you visit your banks website they'll probably have a page explaining what you can and can't do, my bank does :-)

    I've never taken travellers cheques.

  3. I have used my Debit Visa card from Germany to Nassau and have never had any problems.  I visited my bank and purchased Euros for my trip to Germany, also.  Have a safe trip.
