  1. I wouldnt reccomend goldfish whatsoever as the temperatures that bettas need versus what the goldfish need are are diffrent specturms and the goldfish will dirty up the water really quickly.

Male fancy guppies I wouldnt reccomend as a betta might see its bright and long fins as another male betta and attack or if its small enough he may just haul off and eat it, seen that happen too.

Danios and tetras may work but watch for any fin nipping as these guys are fast compared to the betta and may shred his fins.

  2. bettas usually bite hanging out fins so they wouldn't go good with the gold fish

  3. if any thing get a large comet, comon, or ryukin goldfish.

comets and comons are to fast and ryukins are agressive right back.

  4. Goldfish are not tropical fish...so no way. Guppies are too flashy and may be mistaken for another betta and attacked. Some tetras nip at fins, so most of them would be a no. Maybe some danios if they are not nippers, and it was at least 10gal. Make sure that their is not too much movement in the water, and have it only moderately decorated/planted. Keep the water warm and the correct PH.

  5. Definently NOT. The Beta would be aggresive and by the next day all our fish will be in pieces. Goodluck with your fish

  6. In my 70gal i have a Betta in with Angles and Discus, and some Neon's and Cardinals they all do fine together.

  7. No goldfish.  Goldfish need cold water and bettas are tropical.  Goldfish do not do well at elevated temps and need much more room anyway - simply non-compatible.

I would also not go with the guppies.  They have the fancy tails similar to a betta and the male will mistake them for a baby male betta and attack.

Danios or non-agressive tetras may be okay, however, caution here as well.  Danios and tetras in groups of less than 6 of the same species tend to nip.  They will devour a male betta's tail.  Usually when they school they are occupied and won't do this but there is no guarantee.  The key to keeping male bettas with other fish is to not only stock for compatibility but to also allow for a densely planted, large tank with plenty of hiding places.

For example, with a male betta and a school of 6-8 cardinal tetras I would allow for at least 15 gallons with plenty of hiding places.

Hope this helps.  Good luck : )

  8. it all depends on what tank you have but you shouldn't becuz it will fight with the other fis
