a speed bag really isn't good for anything the biggest reason to have one it to learn to keep your hands up. a heavy bag is a good way to get faster just hit it as fast as you can with not alot of power because the power will come. The best bag to use is a double end bag its good for speed and hand coordination

If you want a fast punch its the speed bag...if you want heavy hands that come down like hammers its the heavy bag.
